Game 1135: SteveSmith, Deadlime in 'Alien'

- I was worried that might happen. Do you think the sword is maybe to effective a weapon against the Alien Queen? She needs to get close to attack, but if the humans group up correctly against her I think she can too easily be killed. What do you think?

- Boyflea did it against me, and now that I've tried it does seem quite an easy tactic. It only took attacks from 2 of my units to kill her and I had 4 stood nearby in total. I think it needs changing as it means that the human's best chance is to hunt the queen, which is daft. Maybe the creds for the humans should be reduced so they only have enough for one gun. Or make the queen more powerful?

- I agree. I'm tempted to suggest banning the sword from this mission. What do you think? 30 credits for 2 guns seems fine, maybe even 45 for 3. The problem happens when the humans have a full team of guys armed with swords. It might not hurt to make the Queen a bit tougher too though.

- In fact this raises the question of whether the sword in general is an overly powerful weapon which is set too cheap? Considering lots of players run right up to their opponent before shooting them (to avoid missing), for 5 credits I think the powerful, 1 attack-1 kill sword is an absolute steal.

- I think banning the sword is an ideal and simple solution. As for making it more expensive, I'm not so sure. Units still need to run right up to another unit to make the attack, which costs a few APs, and I've not played any missions where a power sword has made much of a difference. Maybe we need to try it as a tactic in a few games and see what happens.

- In that case let's do it then - ban the Power Sword from the Alien mission.
I seem to recall you hacking my Blobs to pieces with a couple of Power Swords in TOTD when you were the Aquanaughts. Like I said, they are especially effective against Aliens and Blobs who need to get close to attack. It's not a major problem, just an observation. Personally I would bump their price up to 8 credits, but it's your call. :) Posted by

- You're probably right, and they cost 5 so an extra 3 isn't much. They now cost 8. And banned from the Alien mission.
