- Walls are indestructible ? Are you sure ?

- Well spotted. It's because this mission used a different map originally. I'll change it tonight.

SteveSmith 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- Will that change include the mission we have just started, or only for future games?

Deadlime 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- It will include this mission. So if you want to use a grenade in your turn, wait until I've posted that it's done (probably in about 7 hours ish).

- Done now. :)

- This game is taking the phrase "kill frenzy" to the next level!

- Hehe, I was thinking the exact same thing. Perhaps an addition to the map in future, some walls on the outside of the building to prevent units overrunning the opponents deeployment area? With all the hardware we've got, it could be very bloody.
I don't know though, it is fun :-) Posted by
Retro 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- Na, I like it the way it is. There is a nice choice at the moment of attack left, attack right, or enter the building.
As long as no player can kill another player before they've had the chance to move, then I think it's cool. :) Posted by

- I saw that both of you chose to run away from me. I would run away from myself too :)
Obviously the first engaged players have great chance to gain points. So to do that I have to push my units forward quickly. This means I need luck overpass potential enemy waiting after the corner. This is not tactic for me. Posted by

- Hehe, I'm just gonna keep on running ;-)
Although to be fair to myself, I have absolutely no idea what order anyone deploys on this map, my direction of attack was purely dictated by the terrain. Posted by

- I think it's fine as it is. It was my decision to move towards other units; I could have stayed in the middle and probably been safe (for another turn, anyway ;) ).

- Steve, would you like to bring your last unit to me ? I can protect him from these berserker players :)

wonderhero 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- I would do, but he is currently sat in the corner of a room dribbling.

- Another suicide grenadier. Was my best CC skilled unit (52). He threw so wrong after pickup another wrong thrown grenade. Too much random angle.

wonderhero 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- I rather prefer a better throw than big damage.

- My grenade dropped at 3 steps away from target.

- Does the phrase "caught between a rock and a hard place" mean anything to anyone here :-D
Posted by
Retro 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- Not as much as the common phrase "caught between rocket launchers, lasers and grenades".
Posted by
SteveSmith 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- Ah yes, I should have used the more common variant haha

Retro 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- I killed my units and concede because I had not enough target units to reach your score.

wonderhero 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- Hmmmm, is it me or did i just lose some points, I could have sworn I was on 90
Posted by
Retro 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- Yeah I thought you were on about 80 or 90 or something too. Did you kill some of your own men?
I blew up one of my own guys near the start and lost 10 points for it. Posted by
Deadlime 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- No suicides or frienldy fire. I think it's because Wonderhero has conceded. I got 20 points from him and it looks like now he has conceded, I have lost them.

Retro 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- Yeah it's strange. I don't know how Wonderhero has 20 points either considering he blew up at least 4 of his own units. That should be -40 from whatever points he managed to collect. Did he really kill 6 enemy units?

Deadlime 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- He got 2 of mine if I remember rightly. It's as if all kills against him (even by his own units) did not count after he conceded.

- Unlucky Retro, you played really well there, you seem to be doing well at these Kill Frenzy missions. I won by 20 points, so if you lost 20 points then it's harsh on you as the game would have been a draw. Still, draws are boring and I think I deserve a bonus point for being the Last Man Standing. ;)
(If only I hadn't stupidly blew up my own unit it would have been a clear victory.) Posted by

- Hehe thanks. I think it's probably due to the 'Sledghammer' tactics needed for this one, I probably lack the more intricate style of play :-D
I was cornered like a rat there! Was trying to get some distance so that I would be out of range of those damn grenades. I was taken by surprise at how fast both you and Wonderhero traversed the map to get to me, I misjudged both of your arrivals by at least a full turn.
No you fully deserve that one and I do think that there should be a points bonus for either:
a) all units alive at the end
b) a one time bonus for the surviving player.
Hopefully Steve will look into the points loss upon conceding issue (if that is indeed the issue).
Anyway enough babble.... another game thoroughly enjoyed :-) Posted by

- I've just had a look at this. Wonderhero has 20 because he killed two enemy units. Because he conceded, all his units were set to "do not exist", meaning they are not actually counted as killed. I've changed it for future games so that only deployed units are changed. There's probably a reason why it was like this, but who knows!
As for the bonus points, I would prefer not to. I obviously want to avoid giving players a bonus for hiding. I'm open to persuasion though. Posted by

- Actually, thinking about it, maybe a conceding player should just get zero VPs? If they conceded they they should have no further effect on the game?

- Thanks Steve,
I agree that the conceding player should get 0 points at the end of a game, otherwise it is open to exploitation. I don't really understand what you mean by the change you have made currently. But my issue was that I lost the 20 points I gained from Wonderhero when he conceded.
With regard to a bonus at the end, I suppose you could easily exploit that by leaving one of your units far out of reach of anyone. So thinking more about it, I don't think it fits with this scenario. Posted by

- I had less chance to win again. Why ? Because Deadlime and Retro chose to attack Steve first. Retro said it was a random chose, I dont believe him. We know that Steve dont have time to play this game because he is a developer, he is busy. So its easy to gain points by eliminating him. I hopped you had guts to attack me. He he.
Will be the same thing if all 4 players will play by the book. Lets say P1 and P2 will attack P3. In first 3 turns P3 probably will be eliminated but will get some kills. So P1 and P2 will get 30-40 vps each. Than they will start fighting each other and both will managed to gain an extra 10-30 vps in next 2-3 turns.
P4 only arrive after 6 turns because the fight is far away from him (opposite side). He will have 0 vps, but P1 and P2 have 50 70 vps each but only with 3-5 units left for each. So P4 have to kill at least 4-7 units to reach the score but not losing his units to not let P1 and P2 increase their score, right ? No mention that P4 have to rush his units having no time to plan something. Posted by

- So for you was enjoy. For me was not. No planing, no tactic, just ruch to kill something quick because you can have not enough enemy units to kill.

- That's pretty much the idea of the mission. :)

SteveSmith 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- Ok. Next time try to not lose entire squad in first 3 turns :)
Posted by
wonderhero 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- Yes. It was generous of you to put my loss down to my busy workload, but unfortunately it's more due to my lack of skill and planning. :)

- I disagree there Steve, was more down to bad luck. I hate to put a downer on what was for me a good game but:
@Wonderhero, I do not appreciate you calling me a liar. I have said that I did not and still do not know where everyone deploys in that mission. I chose that direction because the terrain favoured an attack in that direction in my opinion. That should be enough for everyone, without anyone calling in to question wether I am telling the truth or not.
Even if I did know where you had deployed, please don't flatter yourself. I may have chosen to attack in your direction. Wether because I think you're not very good or because you are very good. You decide!
Regardless of all this (or maybe because) I would suggest a random spawn for this type of game. Then any accusations are irrelevant.
Sorry for the partial rant :-( Posted by

- Hey Retro don't take it personal. Was a joke, sorry! My remark "I don't believe him" is to challenge you to attack me in the next game, not to insult you. You played very well and I would do the same think like you did :)
I think this mission needs some improvement. I consider that I didn't play so wrong. I had a chance with that grenade when my best CC skilled units threw it so wrong and suicided. Is not first time. I will give up to use "throw and catch". Posted by

- Ah then I apologise too. I thought you were having a go at me. Sorry, it's easy to take things out of context over the net and I should know better. No offence taken on my part and I hope none taken on your part :-)
