- Either I have completely misunderstood the rules of this mission, or something has gone wrong. I destroyed a computer, but everyone else gets 7 points except for me?

- Did I forget to mention that all 4 of us are defenders? ;)
Nah, it's no me playing any tricks this time. I'll have a look. Posted by

- Sorted now. As the map for this mission was copied from the original Moonbase Assault, all the computers were set as being owned by side 2, i.e. your side. So it thought you had destroyed your own computers.

- Ah that makes sense. Thanks. :)

- Steve my unit has 55 CC skill (green volor) and I set him to throw an AP75 at 11 squares. The grenade dropped at 6 squares distance from unit, 5 squares from target, so I think the the grenade hit the wall of gangway. This means the deviation was more than 9 degrees. Is not first time.
I'm expecting from a good CC skill unit to throw a grenade with maximum 5 degrees deviation. Something is wrong with formula. Posted by

- The maximum deviation is currently "CC skill / 8", so in this case it would have been up to 7 degrees. I'll change it to "/ 10", giving a max of 5.5 degrees.

- Steve, are you sure ? Because deviation shouldn't be directly proportional with CC skill, but inversely. Increasing CC skill should get a less deviation, not more, right ?
Maybe be that's the best CC skill units throw so wrong :) Posted by

- that's why*

- You'll be glad to hear that my earlier post was slightly wrong, and the code *hasn't* been wrong since SF started. :) It's actually "(100 - CC_Skill) / 8", meaning the max deviation of that unit is 5 degrees.

- That's right. Someone with a cc of 55 would get a deviation of 5.5 deg. While someone with a cc of 45 would get a deviation of 4.5.
So the better your cc the less accurate the throw is. Posted by

- Ok Steve, but my unit could throw only 6 squares from 11 and the width of gangway is one square, but practically has not 2 squares ? When a grenade hit a wall in your calculation do you intersect the direction of grenade with the wall or with the edge of the square over the wall is ?

- Retro, the better your cc the more accurate the throw should be :)

- It's with the actual wall. It uses the 3D models to determine collisions. Was it going through a doorway or anything?

- It is a closed door at square #10. I set the target behind that door, square #11. My unit can throw AP75 maximum 11 squares. I set the the direction of fire to be parallel with gangway.
In replay I can see that the trajectory of grenade was parallel with walls (gangway) as the grenade has not touched the wall. But it dropped at 4 squares far from closed door. So what is the explanation ? Posted by

- I really believed that AI defend the base. Without a defender, who will move first will destroy more computers.

- Or I think the computers may need better placement. We'll see what the outcome is.

- But I didn't even move first, PCasaca did. ;)
Lol, no I agree with of both you. I think I have the advantage of the best starting position. Like Steve said I think the computers need better, fairer spacing, and like you say it should take into consideration the order of movement.
Still, it's not over yet... :) Posted by

- Imagine that I started to fight with imaginary AI units, throwing grenades in front of me :))

- Ha ha, I think you have played too many SNAFU missions, the paranoia has set in. :P
Or maybe we are bluffing you and there really IS enemy AI units...

- Lol, I know what you mean. I think we were a bit late to the party. Some changes to the map are definitely required. Hasn't anyone played this mission before?

- I've never played it before. I thought it was a brand new mission. Is it not?

- I added it on the 16th July. I think it's the first time it's been played though.

- I stand corrected - I added it 16th July 2010, and it's been played twice before, and this is the first time side 2 has won. In the previous two games it seems that side 2 didn't move in as quickly as Deadlime did, giving the other sides a chance to get to the middle at the same time. I'll have a look at tweaking it though. Suggestions welcome.

- Is it your unit #2 that threw the grenade? I've had a look at the data the throw was perfectly accurate, and it seems like it was the adjustment in distance that meant it fell short. According to the data it landed 8/9 squares away. Does the reply look accurate to you?
Posted by
SteveSmith 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- Yes the replay look accurate till the explosion witch center is at 6 squares away instead of 9. So it was an error: 3 squares.

wonderhero 14 years ago [Login to reply]
- I see, you say that I adjusted the distance at 9, not maximum of 11. Maybe if my fault then. Thank's.

- I think you're right, something did go wrong. The throw looks right but I'm not sure why the explosion was where it was as it should have been 3 squares further down. Can you remember if the grenade was at the centre of the explosion?

- Yes, I remember, the grenade was at the center of the explosion and it was at 6 squares far away from my unit.
But I can't be sure 100% if I adjusted the maximum range. Can you see this range ? Posted by
