- Forget it!
I know what happened - Although I selected the 3rd Side MARSEC faction I was put on the Alien Side - So naturally I had no need for equip...
Still I don't know how I ended up in the Alien Side - but that's fine... Posted by

- By the way - how do the Aliens play (move / attack ) ?
I made a quick search on the WIKI and didn't find anything on the aliens!... Posted by

- They move in the normal way, and attack just by walking into the enemy (i.e. close combat). Also (just in case you didn't know) if you kill anyone, they turn into an alien on your side.

- I have to say that I didn't quite managed to get into the alien side. Many details eluded me, and a number of turns baffled me...
The fact that I wasn't able to attack in the last turn certainly has got me mad...
I don't understand how can I walk around two positions and have AP's for turning and not for attacking...
I have to try another time to get it right - Loved the concept - But I feel that the aliens here are somehow very handicapped maybe one more alien would make things more even - It feels that a well positioned squad of 4 or 5 members will always able to contain the aliens...
Have fun killing each other out! ;) Posted by

- This is only the 2nd time this mission has been played and I agree that it still has some balancing issues. Although I must say that the only other time it was played the Alien side won easily. I think your mistake was to split up your Aliens. Trust me, the Aliens always hunt better in packs. :)

- Aliens do take a bit of getting used to. I'm not even sure I've got the hang of them myself, but Deadlime's spot on when he says they are better in packs. I would say the same goes for humans as well to a certain extent, though it depends on the mission.
I'm slightly confused as to what the Rebels are supposed to do in this mission - do they try and avoid everyone or try and kill the aliens? Or are they just supposed to kill the aliens and avoid the Marsec corps? Maybe it's just a question of tactics. Posted by

- I suppose it's a question of tactics. The Rebels can win by either killing all of the Marsec Corp, or simply trying to survive until the turns run out - but by hiding and not getting involved they run the risk that an Alien might escape in which case Aliens win and they will lose. It's probably better for them to try to kill all of the Aliens and then hide, - but now that all of the Aliens are dead you can hide without fear of that happening.

- True. And it's a pretty big map. I don't envy your job! :)

- Yep it's going to be tough. For future games I'm thinking maybe the Marsec side need more troops, or the Rebels less, or maybe just allow more game turns? What do you think?

- I think the map needs to be a bit smaller. I'm not a big fan of the missions with large maps as they can turn into hide-and-seek which is a bit boring for the player doing the seeking.
The best missions are the one's with an obvious focus, like the classic Assassins and Moonbase assault. IMHO, this mission should have a smaller map and maybe only two escape points (or maybe move them a lot closer together). With four escape points spread so far apart, any units not near the ones that the aliens decide to go for are pretty much left out the game.

- I think you are right. At first I didn't want to make the map smaller because I feared it would be too easy for the Aliens to escape, but if the amount of exits are reduced then hopefully it will be ok. This is proving to be a hard mission to balance. Hopefully it will be worth it in the end. :)

- It can't be any harder than Prison Riot :) (is that actually balanced yet?). Do you want me to adjust the map or shall I leave it to you?

- Yeah, good point. I 'think' Prison Riot was balanced in the end - or did it end up being tipped the other way? I can't remember now, lol.
You can adjust the map if you like. I don't mind either way. If you have a good idea in mind of how it needs to be changed then go for it. :) Posted by

- Actually I think the size is about right - and good to get some tension going on!
I would increase the number of troops on the Marsec Side and add more 5 turns...
But don't mind me
Or mayber add a plot twist, in that the Marsec Corp wouldn't be satisfied with getting the Alien creatures but also no allowing any computer data relating them with the Laser Squad. So instead of killing the Laser Squad, they only had to destroy the computer.
For the computer location it could either be near the Laser Squad side or near the aliens start point - now that would be even more manic! Posted by

- Hmm. You've got me wondering now, that's a very interesting idea. Maybe we could change it so that the Marsec Corp objective would be to steal data relating to the Aliens from a central computer in order to win, (information relating to the location of the Alien Homeworld or something) The Aliens still have to escape to win, and the Rebels have to prevent the Aliens escaping AND defend the computer. This way it removes the Rebels tactic of hiding until the turns expire to win, but still gives them the advantage of time being on their side. It also forces the Marsec Corp deep into the base. This way everyone has a definate clear objective. It sounds like a great idea to me! What do you think Steve?

- Well played Steve. It's a hard task to find the Rebels if or when they chose to hide. Did you read the ideas hardwired & myself were discussing in this thread? I think it might improve this mission considerably.

- Sorry, I've been a bit busy lately adding features to the client: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7JpX3Ytdy0
I've read the emails but not had chance to assimilate them yet, but I'm back on the case now. :) Posted by

- I think adding a computer (or a few) near the centre of the map for the Marsec Corp to destroy would be a great idea to bring the 3 sides together. Like you say, it would mean that the Rebels can't hide, and the computers would be (sort of) defended by the aliens and the Rebels. Maybe because the map is a bit big, a few more units on each side wouldn't go amiss?

- I agree... That would make the game just a bit more taxing and tense, but still be simple to get the purpose.

- Wait! I already have! I've added a couple of units to the human sides and 1 to the alien sides, and added the computers. Let me know if you want me to send you the updated map for you to check over.

- Oops. Too late, I've already done it and sent it to you. Well I guess it might be interesting to compare our changes to see if we were thinking along the same lines. :)

- It looks like we both had exactly the same idea and put the computers in the corners of the centre room. Great minds etc...
