- First time - Sorry but the briefing is not clear enough - and I don't know what I'm supposed to do!
How the sides are designated and which is defending and who's attacking the computers?
Not asking "who's" player - the side... Posted by

- Worst - I thought this was the computer destruction mission for one side - it's even stranger!...

- In a nutshell, one randomly-chosen side (the assassins) must kill another randomly-chosen side. Only the killers knows who they are. The rest of us must keep an eye out and wait until they strike. The game log will tell you if your units saw any shooting. The Strategic Scanner page will tell you whether you are the assassins or not.

- Good game. Hardwired killed one of my units at the start with a grenade, so I assume it must be him who was the assassins, trying to kill me.
One flaw with this mission is that once one side has killed more than half of the assassins units, it's impossible for another side to win. Can anyone think of a way round that, or an alternative? Posted by

- I didn't really get the chance to get involved in this mission, after the Assassins identity was revealed all but 1 of them were dead before I got the chance to move.
I'm struggling to think of ways to improve it. Maybe something like trying to change it so that the teams have a 'secret leader' who must be assassinated instead of the whole team needing to be wiped out. That would be more in keeping with the title 'The Assassins', but I don't know exactly how to make it work. There needs to be something to prevent people killing everyone on the off chance they kill the leader. What do you think? Posted by

- That's not a bad idea. My only other suggestion is the player who kills the last assassin gets 100 VPs. As for how to prevent someone killing everyone, then how about (just like now) they get negative VPs? It does mean they won't be able to win, but then they won't actually know that until the end.

- Well I tried to position myself in a way that you would be confused who was the target (and tried a kamikaze strike at the beginning)... And think it was victor the assassin (which was in both rooms). Unfortunately you can't blow yourself up without giving away who's the real perpetrator.
I think it's fine the way it is... But then it's my first game! Posted by

- I like that one too... But I would make it value only 50VPs, that way there's no chance of tie, and it doesn't get to the point where one could get a lucky shot and win the game - more balanced!

- A question for Victor: how did you know it was Hardwired who was the assassins, and not me?

- Looking at the log I saw that first killing activity was that one of your units and one from hardwired side died of an explosion caused by hardwired so I assumed that hardwired was the assassin.
Maybe the log is telling too much? In this case I was in the room, but DeadLime logs, for example, was exactly the same as mine?? I think log should only tell what you are seeing in that moment.
Do you know what I mean?? Posted by

- Yes. You're exactly right, since the log showed who caused the explosion, it became obvious who the assassins were. I'll tweak it for next time.

- Yeah Victor is right. My log also gave me the same information which pretty much made it obvious who the Assassins were. The only difference was I never got the chance to act on that information.

- I've (humbly) decided to go with my option, since it will mean that there is a reason for all players to keep playing until the end: defenders will get 13 VPs for each assassin killed up until the last one, and 50 VPs for the last one. (This will also apply to the SNAFU Moonbase Assault mission as well).

- Then the fault is on the log - I'm not lame!!! ;P
Well, I didn't knew what the log would show, naturally when I saw it became clear that I just signed my death sentence... I just prayed that everyone would miss the first log for at least a turn or two...
By the way, can the assassins kill other parties without being penalized or they can only kill the selected units? It was doubt I had but I couldn't express without giving away my status... Posted by

- "By the way, can the assassins kill other parties without being penalized or they can only kill the selected units?" - Good question.

- Yes. The assassins can kill who they like without penalty. I've made the mission text clearer on this.
