I think it should end now and be awarded to Rabid and FON. I get the feeling from the number of sectors they are taking undefended that everyone else has pretty much given up anyway. That makes me want to as there is little point then.
I concede the campaign to FON and Rabid. I've played 9 campaign games in the last 6 days and have 4 more yet to play. I'm exhausted my pool of men and myself trying to stop sectors from being taken undefended. I won't play anymore after tomorrow.
Now, just as Marsec are about to storm the galaxy? ;) Good idea, I think it was scheduled to end at the end of June anyway. I officially declare Forces of Nature and Rabid as campaign winners!
Both are severe bottlenecks unfortunately. Also, the campaign does need a redesign (as we say after every campaign!). IMHO one problem with it is the fact that the sector map is almost played in realtime, and you have to remember to attack a sector often. Again, no idea what the solution is, but there must be a boardgame we can copy ideas from.
One soloution to the slog is reduce the amount of sectors overall. A smaller map. And maybe allow diagonal sector attacks? Another way to reduce sectors is to have special sectors amongst the normal ones. When these are won the sector is removed from the map permanently. These of course would have to be place carefully dotted about.
Possibility for attack to diagonal squares is good idea. Because sense is to attack all of your neighbors. And also the speed of campaign games will be increased. let's vote about that?
I think FoN and Rabid were fair opponents to face. Formidable but potentially beatable, just not this time! All of the Veteran players are reasonably well balanced in any player combination.
Thanks for the congrats all. I have to admit, I wouldn't have liked to face the gun toting Rabid. Glad I was on the same side. You each gave some great fights. I think we just got used to playing good at the same old missions before it was rotated round a bit more thank God. I think I must have played over 50 Escort games!
