hi steve! what about starting of new campaign? in my opinion during the campaign the interest to the game is higher and more people involved to the game. As for me, if will be new changes or not for me is doesn't matter..for me will be interesting to play in any case.what other players think ?
ok steve, let's organize a vote: who ready to play in campaign. Will be very good if this voting will be possible to see on main page (we need your programmer skills:) ). after possible to calculate the players and think if there is a sense to play the new one.
I am notg ready for a new campaign. Map and format needs a new concept. All recent upgrades have made massive improvements but still the slog becomes too much.
To improve the Campaign I suggest that we have campaign only missions. Not the current Campaign versions but completely new ones. Mostly for a fresh feel and also designed for a shorter/quicker result. I also reckon we could try having less sectors on the map. Lastly I would have some sectors dotted about that have special properties. These could be bonus rewards for the victors, penalties for losers, some could have extreme environmental conditions imposed on the missions such as excess ground fog, fire spread, nerve gas leak, hidden landmines, some sectors could have extra days immune to attacks or hidden missions. These last suggestions is to somehow inject variety and life into the map itself. It would be exciting to have a live interactive map but in the short term these ideas might be fun. The unknown extreme environmental conditions is my favourite idea out of all of the above.
I think it's now time for a new campaign. Usually February when we have one.
Jeez, that last year when even quicker than the preceding one. :/
Maybe discuss one or two changes that anyone feels necessary. And c'mon nothing elaborate, Steve has only the time and I'm sure inclination to just tweak it a bit. Anything that can be done without too much effort.
Yes but before is starts we need the teams set up properly. Last time, a couple ran before the starting gun went off, let's say, and got an unfair advantage.
FoN, it looks like everyone who played in the last campaign is still in their same factions as I haven't reset them. To all: Shall I reset them all? Only Igoryan has joined a faction since I started it yesterday. I can always tweak sides once everyone has joined. There might be some players who have left SF but are still in a faction.
If some factions already have members then those not in a faction should join the ones that are empty or almost empty. That seems the easiest way to do it.
Just read what FoN wrote. I'm okay either way but let's see how many we have willing to play. Need at least 8. No good starting a campaign with anything below that number.
What is the deadline for deploying in each game now Steve? It was 7 days but was rightly reduced but can't remember to what? For me it should be 3 days to speed up the campaign and stop it becoming the usual slog.
Woah Steve! Hands off button. Nearly ready. We need people evenly distributed across factions first and the 3 day force cancel rule as Xeno mentioned before starting.
It's 3 days before a campaign game can be force cancelled. I can re-adjust the faction players to make them more even. I think 2 players from Globex need to be moved, then it will be 3v3v3v2. Does anyone not want to be moved?
Steve what is going to work for us is to have Xeno, me and Henoh only in Globex. No disrespect to the other players but it should be fair with balancing out with the other factions.
Well if you want it to be fair then we should wait for one more person to join, Marsec only has 2 players. Then again i'm ok to just have me and Rabid on the team. Its just a bit of fun after all.
FoN fair point and we may still get that extra player for Marsec. Steve asked us what we wanted and were just being honest. It's not like we're making a super unbeatable team. We just want a go at this player combination. Get this sorted and we could be playing right now.
I mean, after we all join then there still may need some jigging around with old timers and new members, but i never got the chance to join a new faction.
If it was a two week campaign then I wouldn't care who my team mates were. But a 2/3 month campaign, 5 months in the past, I want team mates I have played with before that I know I can trust, that won't disappear and will do their bit, and I get on well with, especially when it drags on and inevitably gets frustrating.
Now, don't get me wrong, if we had the numbers and the factions got expanded by a new wave of players, then I would readily accept them and play alongside them, okay, no problem, because there would still be that core of trusted players, that if they quit or didn't play often, wouldn't therefore make too much difference. But from scratch? No.
I think we should perhaps leave the campaign alone for a while. Perhaps do a short Lab 2v2 tournament and the players get picked out of a hat, metaphorically, unless Steve has a hat he wishes to use.
The point about the campaign is just about being fair, and i'm really not trying to be awkward. If you get to choose your team mates then so should everyone else surely? Don't get me wrong i'm perfectly happy playing with anyone even if they end up disappearing half way, so happy to get whoever i randomly get. But if you are insisting on choosing your team then everyone else should too. One rule for everyone, thats all.
FoN no one said that other people couldn't organise their own teams or partners if they so wished. I took it that was what Steve was asking us ALL in the first place. So our response was here's our team choice. As to fairness I don't see a problem. Every Campaign has had one or more faction choosing players. So yes go and choose your own team FoN.
I promise to my metalix teammates that I will play with pattience, I will watch AP, hope not to forget to throw primed Granade. Only hope not to wait 7 days for turn...
