So first of all, I have no doubt that other people likely play the game very differently from the way that I do and have a very different strategic outlook as well. That aside, I never use ammo clips. I used to take them early on, but I found that a.) I rarely ran out of ammo and b.) chances are there would be a weapon with ammo around to loot from one of the casualties on the board. So I'm curious if other people do take and use the ammo clips? Maybe people shoot a lot more often than I do and thus need to reload (or are better at staying alive and therefore can't loot their own dead for ammo)?
I can't say I ever bother, but there's been a few occasions when I wish I had. I often buy the SP30 pistol since it's cheap and does a fair bit of damage, but only comes with 10 shots.
I'm tempted to reduce the amount of ammo that guns have, but maybe include a free ammo clip with each gun to make reloading more of a factor?

Not a bad idea Steve. I also have never bought extra ammo clips.
I'm just wondering exactly how reloading a weapon works as I have never really experimented with it. I know on the original Laser Squad, imagine you only have 1 bullet remaining so you chose to reload so to not run out of ammo at a critical time, that 1 extra bullet is lost - it simply disappears. The same happens if that 1 bullet was 9 or 10 etc. Wouldn't it be better if instead your weapon was 'topped up' from the ammo clip instead. Maybe that's already how it works? Like I said, I haven't experimented.
I haven't ever reloaded either, but I think you should lose the bullet. Or maybe drop or hold onto the clip with the remaining bullets. A clip is only going to hold a limited # of bullets and an energy clip could only hold so much energy, so you really shouldn't be able to go over the maximum ammo.
I didn't mean going over the original/maximum capacity of the weapon, I just mean topping up whatever ammo is used from the clip as opposed to using the clip completely and whatever ammo isn't used being wasted.
I like that idea a lot too, and will add it soon. At the moment it works just like Laser Squad in that the ammo clip is discarded even if there are some left. However, the only potential issue is that if the unit has more than one ammo clip, I'll need to implement a way for the player to select which one to use.
