Now that the main campaign mode seems to be settling in, the next question is a stats increase. I suggest that stats are increase as a percentage of their current value rather than a fixed increase, as some stats can have more effect than others. Should units get a (say) 5% increase per rank level across all their stats?

I don't see any need to complicate it any more than a 1 point increase on every stat (Max APs, Health, Shot Skill, CC Skill & Strength) per promotion . With only 10 ranks it means none of the stats will every be ridiculously inflated.
I worry that if we base it on a percenatge that very high ranking units might become too powerful. Players with very high ranking units will naturally already be the better players amongst us, so favoring them further with ultra powerful units might make it very difficult for new players starting out.
That sounds fair enough. I was a bit worried that a high strength value might mean units can throw an object really far, but that's only if a unit reaches a high rank and is it really a problem anyway? I'll implement this.

Yeah the strength value is the only one which might become worryingly over inflated. Did you originally have Recruits starting with 8 strength and then change it to 10? Maybe you should go back to a starting value of 8. The guaranteed promotion to Private after 1 mission will see it raised a little soon enough.
Yes, I think I'll do that. Another thing I think I'll change is altering the stats by a small random amount each time. Instead, I'll randomly allocate (say) 10 points across all the stats, so each unit is as good as another, but better in different areas. This should make it fairer.
